PANDRY: keeping the promise

 Q: Who is Paola Fonda?

Hi! Paola is a young lady from Trieste, a beautiful city on the north-east of Italy on the border with Slovenia. [laughs and continues] I graduated in Economics, I did a Master in Logistics and I started my first work experiences in big companies to better understand internal dynamics within different departments. I’ve worked as a controller, planner, buyer, and as a project manager developing new products with the marketing department. These skills, together with my experience in a startup in Berlin, pushed me to launch my own business. After many tries, 3 years ago I finally created PANDRY, the first Italian luxury foodbox, which is both a B2B and a B2C business (www.pandry.com).

Q: How would you define Authenticity?

From a business point of you “Authenticity” is to give clients exactly what they expect. From a philosophical point of you, is the reflection of what we are. My product is Authentic, because I’ve created it starting from myself and my love for beauty and food.  Being Authentic means being able to “keep the promise”.

Q: How do you keep Authenticity high with Pandry and how do you communicate it to your clients?

I would say by working with some of the highest quality standards. I’ve chosen all my food and packaging producers myself, as well as the graphic design, the typography and the logistics partners. I’ve created a really strong and loyal partnership with them, all which ensures that all the values I believe in are shared and communicated to my clients through the best products and service ever.

Q: You believed in your values and reached incredible goals alone - what were the most difficult moments and which instead gave you the boost to move forward?

Normally a business is thought to respond to an already existing need: so the demand is there and you create the offer. Well,  I’ve started exactly on the reverse: I had the idea of the foodbox and then I’ve tried to create my market. This is of course the worst thing to do if you think about it! When you invent something like I did you may face moments of loneliness, depression, frustration, but... after many tries I finally found the correct business model, the market, my target, the price and the clients of course!

I worked with Fincantieri or Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport for example - my clients are excited to receive such personalized gifts or be able to give them to their own clients.

My motivation was my drive, and little by little the approval of my clients confirmed I was going the right way and I just had to go on, believe and be patient.

Q: Plans for the future?

I want to develop the B2B side of the business all over Italy, improve the network that stays at the base of my e-commerce and create a special line of boxes for my international clients.

Q; What advice do you have for those who want to open a business or launch an "authentic" brand?

“Be motivated” , “be always positive”, “be a dreamer” ,“never give up”…at some point everything will come to you.
