 Q: Who is Serena Pagano?

I am a fashion enthusiast, grown up among fabrics thanks to an aunt and a grandmother who passed their passion for fashion on to me. But it’s not only that, I’ve always been encouraged by my parents to better myself, to think big and to grab my life and destiny into my own hands.
I have always followed my passions, often putting myself on the line, knowing that any goals could be achieved with hard work, dedication and infinite passion.
That's why I have been an entrepreneur who designed her own collections both in Italy and in London, a manager who ran some of the most important stores in the fashion industry, and now I am both a Style Consultant, and an entrepreneur with a dream called Fashion Mentor.

This dream is about allowing professionals to receive clients from all over the world, artisans to have more visibility and a quality clientele, and international clients to exalt their uniqueness accompanied by selected and certified professionals.

Q: What is your personal definition of Authenticity?

That's a good and together hard question. Being transparent and faithful to your own world of values, is certainly a valid asset: but my vision is broader. As it often happens, the meaning and the value of what we do and will do is partly linked to our past, to our traditions. For the ancients, our current meaning of "authentic" indicates a person who "operates on its own":a person who is aware of its true interiority and is not afraid to show it. Nowadays being authentic is not easy, and frankly, I don't think it was easy in the past either, but surely globalization, the standards of beauty that the media share with us, the pressure to appear all the same and to be judged as "the different", make the path to authenticity difficult.

But that's what we need, in order to feel good, we must first of all be ourselves and please ourselves, only then can we have healthy and lasting relationships, not only with friends and family, but also with partners, customers, suppliers and colleagues.The world needs to be global, it is necessary to share ideas, thoughts, cultures, experiences, products and technology, because the wealth of each country is the wealth of all of us, but to be so, it must be locally valued, protected and cared for. In order to evolve it is necessary to broaden the horizon within which we move, to discover new selves, which can help us adapt to new situations in a more strategic and proactive way. Being authentic in today's world means, in my opinion, taking the best of what the world has to offer in order to improve without ever forgetting your roots. Because we, our services, our products, are worth only if we are unique and hardly replicable.

Q: What is Fashion Mentor and what was the initial idea behind it?

 

Fashion Mentor is a support, a help, a showcase, a guarantee.
The idea was born to give an answer to all those people who didn't know what to choose for an event or a special occasion, to those who couldn't match the items purchased, to all those travellers who didn't know where to buy typical local items or simply gifts, and I could go on like this forever. As a Style Consultant, I saw how difficult it was for customers to find first of all a professional, and secondly a professional who could meet their needs. On a technological level, today we have everything we need. The more you automate, the more you "standardize", the more you reduce value and customization. Globalization has created value on standardization and this is where Fashion Mentor was born. Today people want to live a consulting experience different from everyone else’s. With Fashion Mentor you have the possibility to book a professional with a very easy and intuitive system from the comfort of your home. A sort of "Airbnb" of shopping and consulting that makes you live a real experience. Fashion Mentor in fact selects the best Personal Shoppers, Image Consultants and Stylists and they come online with a complete profile and feedback system. The activity responds to the need expressed by customers and companies to have serious and reliable information. In addition, Fashion Mentor aims to give more visibility to urban manufacturing, which is why it regularly collaborates with brands and artisans that responds to high authenticity, originality and quality standards.

 

 

Q: How do you keep the value of Authenticity high with your company, and how do you communicate it to your customers?

 

The risk of making mistakes that could affect the life and success of your business are always round the corner. Our team is very united and composed of people with a strong motivation and passion and willing to make the difference and help others.
The only way to help someone is to identify with the person you want to help. Fashion Mentor bases its activity mainly on three souls (customers, professionals, brand/partners) extremely connected and interdependent. Each of these souls has its own needs and peculiarities, and within the same soul each entity is unique and not replicable. The best thing is to share the experiences of all the people in the team in order to offer a service that is as tailor-made as possible for each entity. This requires a lot of commitment, a lot of research, a lot of experience in the field, considering the real needs of our stakeholders, the courage to create solutions to problems and even more courage to experiment. I believe that working for a company that aims to "help people express their potential" is extremely motivating and energizing.

Q. What would you recommend those who want to set up an activity or launch an "authentic" brand?

Launching a brand or set up a business needs a clear idea of who you are and what you want to offer. You might not be able to choose your end users but you can for sure choose your collaborators and partners as they are the direct extension of your brand. Creating a unique project in a creative and stimulating environment is always an exceptional experience, which gives you a way to grow and confront yourself.Communication as well is fundamental: send consistent messages that must correspond to who you truly are.


In order to do it, you need to plan and believe. Believe strongly in your dreams, stay focused, accept the fact that there is a lot of hard work, dedication and of course infinite passion.

Many and all positive. Definitely explore further, learn, dare and test towards a more open, inclusive and cooperative future.
