Ask yourself: when was the last time I saw a movie in a theater? And what about the last time I watched a movie or show on Netflix? If you find yourself doing the last thing more often, you mught ve a prime targe for what’s Called “The Netflix Effect”.

Stream of Contentness: The Netflix Effect

To say that the Streaming Platform has changed the cinema game would be a huge understatement: Netflix has grown in sunscriber count by a figure of 10% a year and now has more than 182 million subscribers in worldwide.

This Netflix  Effect has rippled out quite a lot from its humble beginnings: now consumers can stream content istantly, wherever and whenever they might see fit. This has also affected the Behavior of the Consumers themselves, who are now no more forced to sit through painfully long commercials and spend a higher amount of money up front to Cable Services. In fact, Cable was a Luxury that many still could not afford to this day, that has been challenged by Netflix as the Consumers prefer the flexibility of being able to watch what they want when they want to.

Netflix’s greatest impact is felt in film and TV as its content is put right in front of customers for easy consumption. This is also evident on how the platform is handling independent movies and small projects, that can easily be seen on Netflix and gain immense traction.

So what is the Netflix Effect? It’s a movement directed to more made-to-measure content: an endless and almost Ulyssean “Stream of Content-ness”, lulling the viewers into a new and comfortable reality, while disrupting and shaking the grounds of the entertainment business.
