Influencer of the Month

Paolo Stella: The Search for my Truth

The Influencer of the first issue of EseLux is Paolo Stella. I chose to interview him because he embodies the meaning of Authenticity. Paolo is an actor, an influencer, a creative director and nonetheless a writer. In his first book, in 30 steps he introduced his readers to a piece of his story, in his second book he made the 31st step, the most important one, in which he showed his deepest soul.

Q: What is the meaning of authenticity for you?

The search for one's truth.

Q: Following you on Instagram I noticed how people, your followers but also your friends, trust you blindly. An authentic Paolo, never built and above all serene, shines through in all your projects. How do you manage to communicate these values so clearly?

Writing the first book, which is rather intimate and private, was the driving force behind the relationship of trust I have established with those who follow me. And having said so many no - in the face of a considerable economic loss - has strengthened the bond. I would never promote anything that I have no respect for. And people understood that.

Q: In the world of fashion, people often make compromises in order to become someone. Has this ever happened to you? Has being yourself ever been a problem in this world?

Never. I learned to look honestly at my human value, which is priceless. Being myself is the only alternative I have allowed myself.

Q: Until the advent of social media, ordinary people saw so-called celebrities as distant and inauthentic figures. Do you think that the influencer has changed this paradigm?

Totally. If before the "diva" factor was fueled by a huge detachment from real contact with the public (the great actors / actresses lived entrenched in their bell air villas and that distance made them so) today if you don't communicate in a very friendly way and easy you have no chance of being recognized. The accessibility of social networks has undermined the concept of VIPs.

Q: Writing a book, especially when inspired by a personal story, can make the author and the protagonist of the same vulnerable as without multiple filters.

I am totally vulnerable when I write. And when I publish a book, I always realize that vulnerability is the highest form of defense. Surrender to the world, give yourself with enthusiasm, be generous. I've never been more invincible than when I started writing my truth.
