Jordana and Marcelo are the powerful couple bringing Sustainability in Fashion, to the next level. 

With Fashinnovation they have made the discussion around Sustainability in Fashion accessible to all and broadened its meaning.

Since they started, back in 2018, they created real opportunities for companies and individuals to learn, network and develop a more conscious way of producing, communicating, selling and living fashion.

Sustainability: The NOW of fashion

It was July, 2018 when we wrote down the name “Fashinnovation” on paper.

It was after Marcelo Guimaraes (already an entrepreneur) asked wife Jordana Guimaraes (with a baby and another on the way), if it would make sense to mix entrepreneurship and technology into the fashion industry, at an event. When Jordana Guimaraes (fashion publicist of 16+ years) said "YES", they started jotting down names and... Fashinnovation was born.

Q: What comes to your mind when you think about the concept of sustainability? 

In our minds, sustainability has many definitions. 

We look at the angle of people around sustainability, impacting others with:

Q: Who is your main target?

 

Our main target is everyone who has an interest in technologies, innovations and sustainability in the fashion industry. 

Our community members are both those working on scaling their business or end consumers who want to be better educated.

Q: What are the biggest challenges and successes you faced since you started?

 

The biggest challenge has been what we believe lots of start-ups deal with, which is: very limited resources. We had to go into the concept of creating Fashinnovation with the two things we had: passion and perseverance.

We asked ourselves: how do we build a community and attract the types of speakers and community leaders we want on our platform, with just showcasing our mission and passion behind it?

On the other hand, the biggest success we faced was making that come to fruition. In just 2 and a half years, having 450+ speakers on our stage, growing our community to tens of thousands of subscribers and all through the sheer belief in what Fashinnovation is doing and wants to do for the industry going forward.

Q. How do you envision the future of sustainability in fashion and luxury?

Bright! We envision sustainability to play a key role in the world of fashion. It doesn't mean that a brand has to be sustainable throughout the entire supply chain, however, all brands will adapt sustainability (dependent on the meaning of it to them) into their brand and practice.

Q: Special projects or Plans for the future?

We are looking to start raising our first round of investment for Fashinnovation to grow as a company in, middle of 2021 - this will be very exciting as we will be able to do lots more for the industry via technology & sustainability efforts.

The concept of a big brand that isn't sustainable, taking the path towards sustainability (even if it takes longer than the ideal time), it should be applauded. Sustainability is most definitely going to take a front seat this year (the NOW of fashion) and with more consumers being a part of the conversation, the prices will go down because demand will rise.

 

Q: When and How did you came about with the idea of FASHINNOVATION?

Q: Can you tell us more about the Fashinnovation mission?

We have three key pillars to Fashinnovation and the events held: Entrepreneurship, Technology & Sustainability. 

Technology is what drives fashion brands to adopt sustainability models in innovative ways with less of a footprint - technology can be pivotal in the implementation of sustainability. Entrepreneurs are the decision-makers behind the evolution of the brand when it comes to fashion - therefore, it's important

for them to be the driving force behind the conversations we put together, when it comes to the discussions of technologies towards sustainability.
